At SFAS, we make every effort to find the best home for the pets in our care. Sadly, many of the dogs and cats that come to us have been abused or neglected and others are injured or have chronic illnesses.

Through our St. Francis Saints program, you can choose a special needs dog or cat and your monthly contribution will enable us to keep our promise to all the animals in our care of always providing a safe place to live and the necessary medical care they need and deserve.

There are several levels of sponsorship:

St. Francis Saint
Your donation of $50 will help provide treatment or therapy for SFAS's disabled animals; giving them the comfortable and healthy life they deserve! Click here to become a St. Francis Saint!

St. Francis Lifesaver
Your donation of $100 will help provide the medical procedures and special attention our neediest residents require to heal and thrive. Click here to become a St. Francis Lifesaver!

St. Francis Above and Beyond
Your donation of $250 helps support all of the special needs animals living here at SFAS and will help us reach out to even more special needs animals that would otherwise be euthanized. Click here to become a St. Francis Above and Beyond!

 Jake

Jake's previous owner contacted the Sanctuary for help because Jake, a Blue Heeler, was found to be deaf at the age of eight weeks. Jake was rather hyper-active and found his way out of his yard pretty regularly.  This habit was particularly treacherous for Jake as his family lived in a hurricane ravaged area of the Gulf Region where there was a lot of work going on, including the demolition of blighted housing.

At first, Jake had a tough time adjusting to his new yard and his new friends. Now Jake has two special buddies who are helping him find his way. Jake will need training with a specialist who can teach him sign language.

Lacey This pretty girl is Lacey and she's about 4 years old.  Lacey was brought to a vet after a friendly stranger witnessed her being hit by a car.  Because Lacey's owner was unknown the veterinarian did not treat her and was only able to give her a safe and supervised recovery area.  A staff member of the clinic contacted us and Lacey started a new life here at SFAS.  Lacey's neurological impairment causes her to walk and run in circles so potty training her was quite a challenge.  Because of her disability, Lacy requires special housing to accomodate her needs.
Job Job was found wandering and was turned over to a local shelter.  He was blind and his hair so matted that it was difficult to determine his breed.  We agreed to make Job our own and provide him with a much needed glaucoma surgery.  Although the surgery did relieve Job's pain, he will remain blind.  Don't go feeling too sorry for him though because Job runs and plays just as wildly as the other dogs in his yard and when he runs into or off of something he picks himself up and runs again!
 Stevie
Stevie, a 5 year-old female, has been a resident of SFAS since early 2005 and she lives in Elvis' Room.  Another rescue organization brought her to us.  Stevie is blind and was probably born that way.  Stevie is affectionate and clean and has the cutest habit of napping on her back with her legs straight in the air!
 Precious
This is one loveable young lady!  Precious was owner-surrendered and came to live at the Sanctuary in 2003.  She is a full-bred Catahoula who was born without eyes.  Precious has learned her large yard and her yard-mates and gets along as well as any sighted dog when she's in familiar surroundings.  It truly is amazing to watch Precious interact!  Precious is looking for that special person who wants a big, loveable family dog.  Precious needs a little extra attention with getting to know her boundaries and would love a family with other pets (as long as she gets to meet them first!).

Precious' sight condition is permanent and your kind donations will help us keep her comfortable and healthy until she finds her "forever home."
